Bact Project Officer

This job opportunity has come about as bact was awarded some funding from East Suffolk Council.  There will be two main objectives of this new job role which is essentially a Public relations role and has been funded for 12 months.

  1. Promotion of bact community transport – particularly in the Lowestoft area.  We want to make more people aware of the services we offer.  We are also wanting to recruit more volunteers to ensure we have the capacity to meet the demand.  This in turn strengthens our ability to be more sustainable.  This could involve delivering leaflets to surgeries, holding stands in supermarkets and doing talks to local groups.
  1. Work alongside the team on the “Meet, Treat and Greet” project.  This focuses on certain areas in Lowestoft and Beccles and Bungay in getting people who are isolated and lonely back out into the community.  This will involve researching clubs, societies and speaking to local community organisations, families, parish councils, community partnership officers etc to try and link people up.  In some cases, it may be a question of helping someone to go shopping for the first time again after lock-down or going on a day trip with people in our bus and arranging ice creams!
