New Minibus launched at AGM

Over 30 passengers, trustees, staff and volunteers gathered at Beccles Railway station on Friday 22nd April to attend the AGM.  The event launched bact’s new minibus, which cost over £52,000.

A bequest launched bact’s appeal just over two years ago. Since then money has been raised via bact’s 100 club, grants, donations from local town councils, local Lions groups, the R.A.O.B. and many other organisations.  As well as many individual donations and by putting loose change into bact’s collection boxes.

The minibus enables people to get around our local community and prevent isolation, which is a problem for so many.  bact’s minibus serves as a social club on wheels, as well as getting people to their destination.

Nick Reay, a regular user cuts the official ribbon to launch the bus. Nick and his family pooled their Christmas present money and gave bact the money for the new bus instead of exchanging presents

2015 has seen 68 volunteer drivers, transport passengers over 300,000 miles on services ranging from community cars, Dial a Ride, community bus use and a local timetabled bus service.

Guest speakers

The AGM included guest speakers Sean Asplin, Passenger Transport Manager at Norfolk County Council and Phil Magill, Passenger Transport Operations Manager from Suffolk County Council.
