Volunteers’ viewI joined Bact as a volunteer driver as I became aware of the mobility issues both my in-laws and parents faced as they aged. Meeting older people I began to appreciate their life experiences, which were invariably tougher than mine. I have also met many younger people who have various mobility issues and have always been impressed by their positive outlook on life, which I hope has been shown in my Bact duties. In summary, it has been a very rewarding experience. Peter Jim has been a volunteer driver for BACT for over 16 years and driven a lot of miles on our behalf during that time. Jim says he loves driving and meeting people and people are always so appreciative. He says it gives you “That feel good factor!” I have really missed seeing my passengers during lockdown. They have become friends over the years. I can’t wait to get back out in my car! MH 2020 I feel rewarded, every day I go out driving people in my car – Mick Volunteering for Bact gives me a purpose in life, a reason to get up in the morning, and an opportunityto meet and help people. PJ Oct 2020 I am writing to say how thankful we all are for the wonderful care and attention shown by your driver Phil. The day could have so easily fallen flat due to the flood barriers being in situ on arrival (because of high tides) which prevented access to our beach hut. However, with Phil’s help and assistance the residents enjoyed a lovely visit to the pier. Holmwood Care Ltd I enjoy helping people, and driving. Volunteering for Bact enables me to do both.
