Community Transport Co-ordinator

Start date:  As soon as possible.

Hours:         Mon – Fri   30 hrs over minimum of 4 days

Salary:         To be negotiated

Holiday:      28 days to include Bank Holidays pro rata

Bact community transport provides essential transport services to many elderly and vulnerable people throughout Waveney and South Norfolk.  This is a challenging but rewarding role co-ordinating over 2000 passengers registered to use our services, over 65 volunteer drivers and more than 500,000 miles a year.

Main Skills Required

  • Great Customer Service (taking/arranging and confirming journey requests)
  • IT literate (we operate a multi layered scheduling system which requires a good level of understanding of computer systems.
  • Excellent communicator (essential for an office with part timers)
  • Highly organised (keeping on top of vehicle maintenance schedules)
  • Patience & empathy – we deal with the elderly and vulnerable who often have poor communication skills themselves.
  • Team player (being prepared to help out with any other tasks required by the organisation) e.g. promote, ensure the efficient running of the organisation and also to support fund raising events.
  • Good working under pressure.

Out of hours – there will be an on call element to support drivers working outside of normal office hours.


Desirable skills

Experience of working with volunteers would be advantageous.

D1 on licence

Awareness of disability issues and the needs of disabled people.
